Police believe Francescca was killed by her mother |
The funeral for two women found dead in a burning car in Leicestershire has taken place. Fiona Pilkington, 38, and her daughter Francecca Hardwick, 18, were discovered inside a car parked in a lay-by on the A47 near Earl Shilton on 23 October.
Leicestershire Police said they were treating their deaths as a "tragic case" of murder and suicide.
Family and friends gathered for a service at the Methodist Church in Sharnford at 1130 GMT.
'Difficult time'
It is thought Frankie, as she was known, who suffered severe learning difficulties, was killed by her mother who then took her own life.
Officers said post-mortem examinations had confirmed no-one else was involved in the incident.
In a statement their family said: "We would like to thank friends and family for their support throughout this difficult time.
"The flowers and many cards we have received have been greatly appreciated."
A memorial service was held at the Dorothy Goodman Special School in Hinckley, where Frankie was a student, on 5 November.
A tree was planted as part of the service and a shield for exceptional progress in outdoor pursuits will be named after the former student.
