Underage drinkers caught in city
Police have carried out a crackdown on underage drinking in Leicester city centre as part of half term week.

More than 15 young people aged under 18 were caught drinking in the street on Tuesday night.

The alcohol was seized and officers contacted parents or guardians to ask them to collect their children.

Eleven premises were also targeted in a test purchasing exercise involving a 16-year-old girl. Just one off-licence and one public house failed the test.

Pc Sean McOwen said: "I hope this operation will not only serve as a warning to licensees but to young people as well.

"Underage drinking, and associated problems such as anti-social behaviour and criminal damage, will not be tolerated by police in Leicester."
