Funds raised for paralysed player
Matt Hampson
Matt Hampson was paralysed from the neck down
Leicester Tigers fans are being thanked for raising around 200,000 for Tigers Academy player Matt Hampson who broke his neck earlier this year.

The money will go into a trust fund to care for the player, who is paralysed in Stoke Mandeville hospital.

He needed specialist surgery after being injured during an England under-21 scrummaging session in March.

The latest fundraising venture is sponsoring Tigers President Roy Jackson to shed the pounds.

He said: "In a word, I need to lose weight. I thought it was a great idea to raise funds for Matt and it's working very well.

"I've lost over a stone in three weeks and I've had a lot promises and I've had a lot of money donated and I think I should reach my target of 10,000 and a three stone loss."
