A charity in Rutland is trying to raise enough money to plant a tree for every child in the county. The Woodland Trust has collected 5,000, but it still needs a further 80,000 to buy a field in Oakham, and 9,000 trees for the project.
Ben Earl, who works for the project, said it will become a permanent part of the countryside for years to come.
He said: "The great beauty about what we are trying to do is these trees will be around for the next generation."
