Bid to ease town traffic problem
The main road through Loughborough could be pedestrianised in an effort to ease traffic congestion.

Leicestershire County Council is considering closing Swan Street to cars and creating an inner-loop road.

Some residents say that instead of solving the problem it will just move the traffic jams to a different part of the town.

But the council says pedestrianising the short stretch of the A6 area would make Loughborough safer for shoppers.

Creating the pedestrian zone would mean re-routing cars round the back of the old hospital, past Fennel Street and onto Bridge Street.
