Graffiti offenders help clean-up
New rapid-reaction graffiti clean up squads are being set up - and staffed by the offenders themselves.

The teams are a joint service between Leicestershire County council and the Crime and Disorder Project.

The idea is that offenders who are doing community service will be trained to use the high pressure hoses and washing gear.

A graffiti removal trailer can then be called out anywhere in the county to remove graffiti and old chewing gum.

Organisers said that not only would it help to clean up areas but would also show offenders how costly their actions are.
