Concerns raised over phone mast
Parents whose children attend the Avenue Junior School in Leicester say they are worried about the possible installation of new phone mast nearby.

The Clarendon Conservative Club wants to add another mast to its building.

Local parents are concerned about possible health risks to their children as there are already two masts on a temple opposite the school.

They are asking for a precautionary approach while the government looks into possible health risks.

The masts are not big enough to warrant planning permission, so there is no right to appeal.

The phone company Orange acknowledges public concern about the siting of transmitters, but says there is no conclusive evidence that makes a link between mast sites and long term public health risks.

The Clarendon Conservative Club says it is trying to meet with parents to discuss their concerns.
