Taxi protest takes to the streets
Taxi drivers are taking to the streets of Leicester to protest about rules banning vehicles which are more than eight years old.

The RMT union called Friday's action, saying the council had failed to keep a promise to scrap the policy.

The union is also angry that random checks on vehicles are carried out on Friday and Saturday evenings, the busiest time for the taxi trade.

Hackney carriage drivers are gathering at the rail station at 1600 BST.

They will drive down Nelson Street, Charles Street and onto Belgrave Gate in a protest planned to run for two hours.
