Thousands of pounds is being spent on CCTV in Leicester to cover car parks and protect students. The cameras, which cost 25,000, will be installed at council car parks on Granville Road, at the edge of Victoria Park and at the Castle car park.
Leicester University is paying for improved lighting and CCTV on paths on Victoria Park, where many student walk to and from lectures.
The move follows a number of robberies and attacks in the park.
