The purple outfit from Bolero is one of those being sold off |
A woman who saved some of ice-skating's best-known costumes from being thrown away is selling them off for charity. Helen Murphy from Saxelby near Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, is auctioning 11 of Christopher Dean's outfits.
Among the costumes are those used in Nottingham duo Torvill and Dean's most famous performances.
The tight purple leggings and flowing shirt used in Bolero and the bright gold Mack and Mabel outfit are among the items being sold for charity.

Ms Murphy came by the outfits after hearing that Jayne Torvill was considering selling them online. She hopes to raise tens of thousands of pounds with the sale to give to Sports Aid, a charity which helped fund Torvill and Dean while they were competing.
"I hope actually some of them or most of them remain in this country and don't go abroad when we do sell them."
Jayne Torvill told BBC News: "Some of them have been worn many times, and some of Chris's are a little worn in certain places, such as the knee.
"We have hung on to them for some years, but Chris moved to the US six years ago and wanted to put his costumes to some use before they disintegrate.
"All of my costumes - the ones I want to hang on to - I have found a place for them in my house," she said.
Jayne and her partner Christopher Dean won World, European and Olympic titles for figure skating in the 1980s.
They are still best known for their Bolero dance which scored them perfect marks for artistic merit in the Winter Olympics in Sarajevo in 1984.
No date has been set for the sale.
