Group attack man in city takeaway
A man is seriously ill in hospital after being assaulted in Leicester in the early hours of Sunday.

The 29-year-old was chased by a group of 15 men into the Prima Pizza shop on Humberstone Gate at about 0300 BST.

He suffered multiple injuries during the attack and underwent emergency surgery in hospital.

Detectives believe the incident may have been witnessed by a number of people and are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

The group of men fled the scene.

DC Chris Baker, of Central CID, said: "This was a vicious and sustained attack which has left the victim with serious injuries.

"We are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who saw a large group of black men in the Yeoman Street, Humberstone Gate or Wharfe Street South areas around 3am."
