Leicester residents receive recycled computers from a college
Pupils in part of Leicestershire are being encouraged to take part in a computer recycling scheme.

Forty students from Babington Technology Community College in Beaumont Leys are among those who have already benefited from the scheme, called Get Connected at Home.

The aim is to increase the number of computers in local homes and to help pupils to continue and expand their studies.

Within north-west Leicester, the numbers of computers in homes is low, so over the next year the project will refurbish over a thousand terminals and then sell them to residents.

Anti-social behaviour

Under the programme, used computers are sold to people for just 25.

The programme is part of a package of measures in the area, which has been awarded 13m from the government.

The aim is to improve the area around the Beaumont Leys estate and to help tackle anti-social behaviour and create a safe, attractive area.
