The airline has benefited from BA's problems
BMI British Midland, the airline based at East Midlands Airport has reported its largest number of passengers carried over a one month period.

The announcement comes as British Airways revealed it has made huge losses.

The company's success comes during a troubled time for British Airways, which made losses of 45m over the three months to June.

BMI's says they were able to help holiday-makers left stranded during BA's flash strikes.

Chief Financial Officer Nigel Turner said: "There has been a large increase in bookings as the disaffected British Airways passengers have tried to book with us.

"We hope that as they fly with us they enjoy the experience and we will get more passengers through August and for the rest of the year.

"Ideally those people who fly with us once will come back time and time again."
