Boy hit by airgun pellet
Airgun
Airguns are capable of causing serious injury
A 12-year-old boy has had an air rifle pellet removed from his arm after being shot at by two youths in Leicestershire.

He was playing with four friends at the Casterton Hill Quarry in Little Casterton at 1625 BST on Tuesday when two youths fired at them.

Two of the boys were hit - one suffered bruising, the other was hit in the arm.

He was taken to Peterborough Hospital where doctors removed the pellet and was released on Wednesday afternoon.

Biker appeal

The two suspects are described as white, in their late teens or early twenties and both around 5 ft 7in tall.

One was wearing a blue hooded top, the other was dressed in black.

Detective Constable Malc Mills said: "The quarry is a popular place for mountain bikers and I would appeal to anybody who was in the area that afternoon to think back.

"It may be that they have information that could help us with our enquiries."
