Blackpool are now 90 minutes away from the Premier League |
About 37,500 tickets will be available to Blackpool fans for the Championship play-off final, officials have said. On Wednesday, fans queued at Bloomfield Road to renew their season tickets and ask about Wembley tickets. Tickets for the showpiece final go on sale to season ticket holders at 0900 BST on Thursday and will be available at the ground and online. Blackpool twice came from behind to beat Nottingham Forest 6-4 on aggregate and secure their place in the final. The club will meet either Leicester City or Cardiff City in the Championship final on 22 May. Club officials met Football League representatives on Wednesday morning to confirm the ticketing arrangements. Blackpool last played in the top flight in 1971, when the resort was at the height of its popularity. Speaking ahead of Tuesday's match, deputy leader Ian Fowler said: "Yes, we are the premier resort in Europe and the world we would say, with the tower and our iconic buildings - but being a Premiership side just gives you that edge. "Wherever you go people will always want to watch Premiership football and people will want to watch Blackpool because they play very attractive football. "If Blackpool Football Club does well, the town will do well - and that's what we look to do." The club said a further announcement would be made on Friday about tickets destined for general sale.
