Police operation for FA Cup tie

Deepdale
Fans are urged to arrive at the ground in plenty of time

Police in Lancashire are mounting an operation to prevent trouble at Saturday's FA Cup tie between Preston North End and Liverpool.

Officers are encouraging fans to get to the Deepdale ground in plenty of time as no parking will be allowed on Moor Park Avenue.

Random ticket checks will be carried out and no tickets will be available to buy on the day.

Ch Insp Nicky Evans said any troublemakers would be arrested.

"Troublemakers will be brought to justice and we are prepared to seek banning orders through the courts, making full use of CCTV and video evidence but hopefully this will not be necessary," he said.

"A ticket tout operation will take place on the day and fans are reminded that it is an offence for an unauthorised person to offer to sell or sell a ticket for a football match such as this."
