Jessica Knight
Jessica Knight suffered several stab wounds
A 21-year-old man accused of trying to kill a teenage girl in a knife attack will stand trial in July.

Jessica Knight, 14, was stabbed up to 30 times as she walked through Astley Park in Chorley, Lancashire.

French national Kristofer Beddar, of Daisy Hill Drive, Adlington, Chorley, appeared at Preston Crown Court. He is charged with attempted murder.

No plea was entered and Judge Anthony Russell ordered him to go on trial on 14 July. He was remanded in custody.

No bail

Mr Beddar will reappear in court for a further hearing on 22 May.

Jessica was stabbed repeatedly as she walked through the park on the evening of 21 January.

She underwent emergency surgery in the aftermath of the attack and is still recovering in hospital.

Mr Beddar, originally from south-east Paris, had been living with members of his English family at the time.

No application for bail was made during the hearing on Monday.
