Morecambe FC has announced plans to move to a new 6,000-seat stadium in the Westgate area of the town. The Shrimps' chairman Peter McGuigan confirmed the multi-million pound plans at the club's Christie Park ground.
Plans are to be submitted to Lancaster City Council within the next few months, and if they get the go ahead, the stadium could be in use by 2009.
Morecambe gained League status for the first time in their 87-year history after beating Exeter City in May.
Mr McGuigan said: "The proposal will deliver a stadium worthy of a Football League side and will give an enormous boost to the club and people of Morecambe alike.

"The stadium will provide top class facilities for players, fans and sponsors and will be a historic development in the life of Morecambe Football Club. "It will guarantee the financial stability of the Club for the future and also strengthen civic pride and confidence in us."
Plans for the new stadium include an area for community use, a hotel and possible fast food franchises. John Donnellon, from Lancaster City Council, said the project was an "ambitious" one.
"The council recognise the important role a successful club like Morecambe can play in local life and it is encouraging to see the club planning to build on their recent successes," he said.
Morecambe Football Club was first formed back in 1920.
The ground Christie Park was named after Mr J B Christie, a former president of the club who bought the ground and left it to the club in 1927.
