Public inquiry into academy land
A public inquiry is due to take place in Lancashire to decide whether a dozen homes should be demolished to make way for a multi-million pound academy.

Darwen Council wants to build the 48m academy at Redearth Triangle to replace Darwen Moorland High School. It has already demolished a number of houses.

The council wants to buy the 12 homes left there through compulsory purchase orders and then clear the site.

The public inquiry at Astley Bank Hotel in Darwen is expected to last six days.

Last year a public inquiry found that Blackburn with Darwen Council was wrong to have ordered the demolition of homes as part of the regeneration programme.
