Locals air concerns over concert
Music fans in Sunderland
About 30,000 fans will attend the two-day event
Families living near the site of a music festival in Lancashire are to meet organisers in a bid to allay any final concerns over the free event.

BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend at Moor Park in Preston is expected to attract 30,000 music fans on 19 and 20 May.

The event, Europe's largest free ticketed music festival, will feature 30 chart-topping bands whose identities will be revealed on 30 April.

The public meeting at Deepdale Junior School in Preston begins at 1800 BST.

Communication links

The meeting will be chaired by Steven Jones, director for regeneration, community and leisure services at Preston Council, and will be attended by various council departments as well as police representatives.

Mr Jones said: "We've made every effort to communicate openly with local residents so far and the closer the event becomes, the more vital those communication links are.

"I would like to encourage people living close to Moor Park to take this final opportunity to come and talk to us, listen to the finer details of the event and raise any concerns they may have."

The council has previously given three presentations to local area forums and is set to distribute leaflets containing practical details of the event to nearby residents in early May.
