The walk aims to promote the beauty of Lancashire |
Volunteers taking part in a walk around the boundary of the North West of England are kicking off the Lancashire leg of the trip in Preston on Tuesday. Ramblers walking the 850 mile (1368 km) route will take in the boundaries of Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Merseyside, Lancashire and Cumbria.
The walk will be covered in relay by members of local walking groups.
The Lancashire walk starts at Much Hoole and visits Blackpool, Fleetwood, Cockerham, Lancaster and Carnforth.
It will take eight days to complete. The event began on 8 July at the City of Manchester Stadium, where it will end on 18 September.
The region's walking groups have organised the boundary walk, which aims to promote the beauty of the Lancashire coast and raise awareness about the health benefits of staying active.
