A drive to curb the dangers of summer drinking has been launched in Lancashire by the emergency services and health groups. Operation Summer Nights tackles issues ranging from anti social behaviour to drink-related accidents and fires.
Lancashire Assistant Chief Constable Adrian McAllister said: "It's ok to have a good time this summer but not at the expense of others."
A campaign charabanc toured Blackpool, Accrington and Lancaster on Friday.
'Safety problems'
The bodies backing the campaign say summer drinking can cause health and safety problems.
"Fifty percent of accidental fire deaths in homes can be linked to alcohol," said Paul Richardson, Lancashire's Deputy Chief Officer.
Frank Whiteford, deputy director of Lancashire Ambulance Service NHS Trust, said: "Every year we see the results of alcohol abuse in adults and children.
"This often ends with accidents and injuries that require people to be taken to hospital; some of these cases tragically result in death."
