Cameras used to monitor toilets
Morecambe
Police have received complaints from residents and visitors
Police are trying to stop a public toilet blocks in a seaside resort being used as a meeting place for gay men.

Lancashire Police says CCTV is being used to monitor outside public toilets in Morecambe after complaints from residents and visitors.

Posters have been put up outside the facilities and police say they plan to speak to those caught using the toilets for sexual activity.

Officers say men meeting there often make plans over the internet.

Closure plans

Pc Sarah Cole said: "Residents are very concerned about this indeed.

"We want the people who indulge in this activity to know we are watching them and will visit their homes when necessary. "

Lancaster City Council says it will do what it can to protect public toilet facilities in the area from becoming a focus for anti-social behaviour and crime.

In a review by the council, some toilets are being earmarked for closure.
