Shrimpers told to remove tractors
Tractor at Lytham
The council say the vehicles restrict access
Fishermen have been ordered to remove their boats from an area of foreshore in the Ribble Estuary in Lancashire.

The shrimpers in Lytham became concerned when officials from Fylde Borough Council put warning notices on all vehicles left on the beach.

They say the boats, tractors and trailers earmarked for removal are still used every day for fishing.

The council said the boats on Seafield Road "restrict access to the beach and pose a health and safety risk".

"By moving all the vehicles we can clean up the area to ensure it complies with health and safety regulations," the council said in a statement.

"Vehicles with the relevant permits, licences and public liability documents will be able to use the land as before.

"We are conscious of the heritage of shrimping in the area and want to ensure this can continue in a safe environment."
