Modified cars targeted by police
Leyland
Residents in Leyland had complained about the noise
Police seized a car and warned several drivers in an operation targeting "nuisance" motorists in Lancashire.

Two cars were reported for defects and several drivers were warned by police in Operation Cruiser in Leyland on Tuesday night.

The operation was prompted by residents' complaints about anti-social behaviour and noisy "modified" cars.

They said loud exhausts, loud stereos, wheel spinning, handbrake turns and sounding horns were among the problems.

One vehicle was seized by police for further enquiries and several drivers will have to produce their documents at a police station.

Noisy exhausts

Two vehicle defect reports were issued for noisy exhausts, defective lights and faulty windscreen wipers.

Two warnings were also issued to drivers thought to be causing a nuisance with their driving.

Pc Rob Duerden, community beat manager with Lancashire Police, said: "This operation was run following continuing complaints from residents that their quality of life was being adversely affected by the antics of drivers in updated modified vehicles.

"These operations target those drivers with modifications to their cars to make sure they fall within the legal requirement and also in an attempt to educate those drivers as to the nuisance they cause."
