Body found near cockling tragedy
Cocklers at Morecambe Bay
Police say the decomposed body could be another victim
A body washed up near the scene where 20 Chinese cocklers drowned in February could be another victim say police.

The badly decomposed body was discovered at 1130 BST on Monday on the beach at Bolton-le-Sands in Morecambe Bay, Lancashire.

Twenty bodies were recovered after cockle pickers were trapped by rising tides off Hest Bank in February.

But Lancashire Police have never ruled out the chance there could have been more victims.

A force spokesman confirmed the body could be that of a 21st victim.

He said: "It is one of our lines of inquiry."

The spokesman added: "Police were called and confirmed it was a badly decomposed body that would appear to have been in the water for a considerable amount of time.

"It was recovered with the help of a lifeboat and the police underwater search team and was taken to the local mortuary where inquiries will now commence to confirm the identity of the body."
