Stranded cockle pickers rescued
Four cockle pickers who were stranded by rising tides in Morecambe Bay have been rescued.

Liverpool Coastguards were called to Hest Bank, near Bolton-le-Sands in Lancashire at 0920 BST on Sunday.

Coastguard units and lifeboats were launched on the coastline where 20 cockle pickers died in February.

The four, who are from Southport, Merseyside, were rescued by an RNLI hovercraft and are said to be suffering from the cold but are safe and well.
