Funeral of custody death teenager
Adam Rickwood
Adam was found hanged at the secure training unit
The funeral of the youngest person ever to die in custody takes place later.

Fourteen-year-old Adam Rickwood's body was found in his cell at the privately-run Hassockfield training centre in Medomsley, near Consett, last week.

His family believe he hanged himself because he was unable to cope with being so far away from his relatives in Burnley.

An inquest into his death opened and adjourned last week amid calls for an inquiry into youth custody deaths.

Burnley MP Peter Pike has also written to the Home Secretary calling for an urgent inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Adam's death.

Adam's funeral service will be held at Saint Matthew's Church in Burnley on Wedensday afternoon.

It will be led by the vicar, Reverend Ian Mossley, before Adam's burial in Burnley Cemetery.

The teenager was on remand facing a wounding charge and had been at the centre for a month.
