Police believe DNA evidence will catch Nigel Bostock's killer
Detectives who are re-opening an unsolved murder case in Lancashire are appealing to members of the gay community, to come forward now.

They are hoping that advances in DNA technology may help them track down the killer of 31-year-old Nigel Bostock 16 years ago.

Mr Bostock, was strangled and stabbed at his home in Banks, west Lancashire. His body was found in the bathroom of his bungalow but there were no signs of a struggle.

Mr Bostock, who lived alone and ran a shoe shop in Southport, was known to be homosexual and often visited gay clubs in the region.

It was believed about 700 was stolen from the victim's briefcase, along with a distinctive watch which has never been traced.

Police believe there were up to three people at the house on the night he died.

Acting Detective Superintendent, Cath Thundercloud, said there are many items from the original inquiry which will be subjected to DNA testing.

She added detectives will also review original statements.
