Show 'will stay at same site'
The mud at the Royal Lancashire Show
The final day was cancelled after the site became a quagmire
Organisers of the Royal Lancashire Show have insisted next year's event will go ahead at the same venue.

The final day of the show was cancelled on Thursday after constant heavy rain turned the site into a mud bath.

Serious traffic congestion had also hit the event, which was held at Salesbury Hall Farm, Ribchester.

Organisers had said they were considering changing the venue after consulting with health and safety officers on Wednesday night about the state of the site.

But Rennie Pinder, chairman of the show society, said solutions to this year's problems would be discussed by organisers next week.

He said: "We may have to lay the road and one way system out differently, there's lots of other things to look at.

"We are going into a meeting of directors next Thursday, that's how serious we take it."

This year was the first time the show had been held in Ribchester, after moving from its previous venue in Chorley.
