'Role swap' for leaders
Lancashire's chief police officer is swapping his job with a council chief executive to build closer relations between the two bodies.

Chief Constable Paul Stephenson is exchanging roles with Bill Taylor, chief executive of West Lancashire District Council, on Thursday.

Mr Taylor was set to don a police jacket to go on the beat in Skelmersdale.

And Mr Stephenson was due to put on a council coat and operate a street-cleaning machine.

One of Lancashire's newly appointed police community support officers was scheduled to join Mr Taylor on the beat, along with Mr Stephenson.

Mr Stephenson was also set to meet "Wesley - the West Lancs Dog" - the council's dog warden, dressed in a large dog costume.
