An official ceremony at the BAE Systems base in Warton, Lancs, on Monday will mark an important milestone in the development of the Eurofighter Typhoon. The aircraft was designed and built in a joint project between the UK, Germany, Italy and Spain.
BAE says the ceremony is to mark a series of crucial tests the fighter has passed, paving the way for the plane's entry into service with the RAF.
More than 600 of the aircraft are being made - creating around 14,000 jobs in the UK - more than 2,000 of which are based in the North West.
The aircraft are being assembled at sites in Warton and Samlesbury in Lancashire.
