The annual show is the largest military vehicle event in the world |
Dame Vera Lynn has met more than 100 British veterans who fought in World War II and who held a reunion. The veterans, who took part in the Normandy campaign and the Battle of Arnhem, got together at the War and Peace Show in Paddock Wood, Kent. It was organised by the London Taxi Benevolent Association for War Disabled, which provided the group with 50 black cabs to arrive in style. Dame Vera, known as the "Forces' Sweetheart", is patron of the charity. The five-day annual military show, at The Hop Farm, ends on Sunday. It includes displays by wartime aircraft, live music from the 1940s and exhibitions of rare tanks and armoured vehicles.
