Overhead power lines are being removed from two beauty spots

Underground cables will replace overhead lines at Cobham Park near Gravesend, and St Margaret's at Cliffe near Dover in the �362,000 plan.

Spokesman Nigel Collier said work on the areas of outstanding natural beauty (AONBs) would begin in 2009.

He said the project was being funded by a special allowance given to EDF by the industry regulator Ofgem.

Last year, similar schemes were approved at two other AONBs in the county - White Horse Wood Country Park and Ightham Mote.
