Water restored after mains burst
Water tap
The burst main supplies Southborough and Rusthall
Water supplies have been restored to several thousand properties after a mains pipe burst in a Kent town and two bungalows were flooded.

The water main in London Road, Southborough, north of Tunbridge Wells, burst in the early hours causing chaos for drivers in rush-hour traffic.

The A26 was shut in both directions and traffic diverted through Bidborough.

South East Water said work to repair the leak would continue into the night, causing some delays to motorists.

At the height of the clean-up operation, Kent Fire and Rescue Service had three pumps on the scene.

The burst main transfers water to a service reservoir which supplies the Southborough and Rusthall area.

The water company has apologised to customers and motorists for any inconvenience.
