Arrest after seaside flat murder

The body of the 26-year-old was found in a flat in Athelstan Road
A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a man found dead in Margate.

Officers said the 28-year-old man was in custody and helping police with their inquiries. More than 50 officers are working on the investigation.

A post-mortem examination was being carried out on Thursday on the body of the 26-year-old, found in a flat in Athelstan Road on Wednesday night.

Police are still appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

The victim was seen having in argument in Athelstan Road earlier on Wednesday which involved more than one other person.

Det Ch Insp Jon Bumpus said: "Although we have one man in custody, this arrest forms part of the investigation into this murder which is ongoing and still in its early stages.

"We would still like to talk to anyone who can help."

The name of the victim is not being released until family have been informed.

The road was cordoned off last night and remained closed at lunchtime on Thursday.
