Twenty-six metric tons of copper worth 100,000 were stolen by masked robbers in an attack on a lorry driver in Kent. The men tied the 54-year-old driver's hands together, hit him in the face and threatened him with a metal bar.
The gang then stole the victim's trailer from Charlwood Ltd at Old Park in Whitfield on Tuesday evening.
The trailer was later found in Willow Wood off the A256 near the Tilmanstone roundabout. Police believe the copper was offloaded somewhere in south Kent.
The men, who were wearing black ski masks and clothing, used the tractor unit from the driver's lorry to steal the trailer during the incident, which happened at about 2200 BST.
Gary Charlwood, who owns the company, has appealed to anyone who may have seen the lorry or saw the heard the copper being unloaded, to contact police.
"Tipping up 26 tons of copper would have made quite a lot of noise," he said.
