A centre set up to promote the understanding of Romany culture in Kent has held its opening celebrations. Romany Life boasts "a superb collection" of Gypsy wagons, carts and trailers, the Cranbrook centre said.
Spokesman Henry Stanford said the exhibition has set out to show the contribution made by Gypsies to Kent's agricultural history.
In July, a film made by Romany children about their culture as part of a school project was premiered in Cranbrook.
Mr Stanford said Gypsies had contributed enormously to the local economy, many working yearly on hop-picking in the county, and playing an "essential part" of the industry.
He said: "Living in or visiting Kent, you are constantly reminded of its agricultural past.
"This is particularly seen in the many oast houses, oast huts and the small number of hop gardens still remaining."
The centre in Whitewell Lane opened to visitors on 1 August. Opening celebrations were being held on Saturday evening.
