Ridge Meadow Primary School could be closed under the proposals |
Parents at two Kent schools threatened with major re-organisation have joined forces against Medway Council. The education authority is examining ways of reducing the number of surplus places at schools in the Chatham area.
Its plans include closing Ridge Meadow Primary School and merging it with nearby Oaklands Primary.
But at a meeting on Monday night, angry parents overwhelmingly agreed reducing the capacity of eight local schools was a better option.
Medway Council insisted there were not enough youngsters to warrant keeping all of the larger schools open.
Council spokesman Simon Trotter said: "We're consulting on two options. They're real options and frankly I couldn't call which one the council will go with."
