 Eurostar said services were returning to normal |
Cross-Channel trains were delayed for almost two hours on Saturday after one of the tunnels between Kent and France had to be closed. A Eurostar spokesman said the closure of the tunnel had followed the breakdown of a freight train.
Some shuttle trains were delayed for 90 minutes while Eurostar recorded hold-ups of an hour.
Normal services resumed after the stranded freight train was moved at about 1600 GMT.
A Eurotunnel spokesman said: "Unfortunately this happened as people are driving back from holidays on the continent but we have cleared the problem now and things are getting back to normal."
Eurostar celebrates 10 years of running its cross-Channel service in January.
