The airport's development has prompted the review

An existing agreement between Thanet council and PlaneStation, which runs Manston airport, is under review.

Thanet council said more information was now available about future impact, including flights, aircraft and noise.

Canterbury City Council is holding two public meetings in May before giving a response to Thanet about airport plans.

Sir Alastair Hunter, chairman of Kent International Airport Consultative Committee, and representatives from Thanet council and PlaneStation will be on the panel at the meetings.

Canterbury City Council is a consultee on the planning agreement.

Summer night-flights

The airport agreement being reviewed is a voluntary project, but once it is in place it will become legally binding.

The agreement, called a Section 106, sets out how a developer will contribute to the community - for example, by donating cash for road schemes, providing affordable homes or creating new open spaces - in return for a planning application being approved.

Despite widespread opposition from people living nearby, EUjet was granted permission to run night flights this summer from April until September.

Thanet council has already run a three-month consultation which ended in April 2005.

Passenger flights began operating from the airport at Manston in September 2004.
