Street to get 'natural' facelift
Folkestone sign
The revamp is part of a scheme to improve Folkestone town centre
A street in Folkestone is to get a facelift as part of improvements to the town centre.

Work will begin on Monday on a four-week project to repave Rendezvous Street with natural materials.

Shepway District Council said York stone would be used for the pavement and granite setts for the road to enhance the traditional character.

New lantern style lights will be installed with litter bins and lighting columns also refurbished.

John Dawson, an architect for the council said: "They (the materials) will be in keeping with the existing traditional character of this part of the town."

The work is funded by the South East England Development Agency, the European Union Interreg programme and Shepway council.
