A gang of men who tried to use a 4x4 vehicle to steal a cash machine from a petrol station in Kent early on Monday are being sought by police. The attempted raid happened at the Jet service station in London Road, Wrotham, at about 3.15am.
Police said the vehicle was reversed into the ATM and the men then tried to load the machine into the back of the car, but it was found abandoned nearby.
Officers think at least three men were involved in the attempted robbery.
Sprayed dye
The men were all wearing dark clothing and had their faces covered and one of them discharged a fire extinguisher into the garage shop, Kent Police said.
It is thought the cash machine was fitted with an anti-theft device which would have sprayed dye during the attack.
Kent Police want anyone with information to contact them or Crimestoppers.
