Ninety more jobs go in port town
Ninety more jobs are to be lost in Dover - the second major blow for the Kent town's economy in six weeks.

Twelve full-time and 78 part-time posts will be lost when the Co-op closes its Charlton Green store on Christmas Eve.

The Co-op said the outlet's poor trading performance had led to the losses, but it was hoping to redeploy some staff to other sites in east Kent.

In September, more than 800 redundancies were announced on the Dover to Calais ferry route by P&O.

Ray Haines, from the Dover Chamber of Commerce, said he did not believe the job losses signalled a downturn for the town.

He said there were already plans for another major supermarket development in the town in the near future.
