Top pop group to play at school

The band have sold more than 30 million records worldwide
Pop group Westlife is to perform an outdoor concert on a school playing field in Kent.

The Irish boy band will sing their hits to thousands of fans on the fields of St George's Church of England School in Broadstairs on Sunday.

About 14,000 people are expected to turn up for the event which was organised by former pupil and concert promoter David Suter.

It is hoped the concert will raise about �5,000 for the school.

Westlife have sold more than 30m records worldwide and have had 12 UK number one singles.

Head teacher Keith Rumblo said: "As far as the area is concerned, a lot of people feel that Thanet is very much a cultural desert.

"To have something along these lines, with famous people coming along, will be great for everyone."
