Beaver Scouts celebrate birthday
More than 1,500 Beaver Scouts from across Kent are celebrating the 18th birthday of their organisation in the county with a two-day party.

The six to eight-year-old boys, who are the youngest members of the Scouts, will be at Wildwood Trust woodland discovery park near Herne Bay.

They will be entering competitions and meeting some of the park's wildlife.

"The numbers here are a testament to their enthusiasm," said Kent Beaver Scouts spokeswoman Kathy Smith.

The birthday party ends with a jamboree in the Kent Scout Association's headquarters next door to Wildwood.

The beaver scouts will be making a donation to Wildwood's conservation work during the weekend.

"We are delighted to welcome Kent Beaver Scouts on this wonderful occasion," said Wildwood's education officer Anne Riddel.
