An operation to combat alcohol-fuelled violence and disorder over the summer was a success, Kent Police has said. South east Kent and Thanet police were among 75 policing areas in England and Wales to take part in the national alcohol misuse enforcement campaign.
In south east Kent 105 arrests were made with 32 penalties issued in Folkestone, Dover and Deal.
Kent Police said alcohol-related violence fell by 12% in town centres compared to the same period last year.
'Clear message'
The Kent policing area was chosen to take part in the campaign because it already had measures in place under Operation Kibosh.
The operation started in May with high visibility patrols in town centres on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights to deal with alcohol related crime.
Some 328 youths were also checked as part of the police operation and alcohol confiscated from 50 people.
The main thrust of the operation took place in south east Kent with 185 incidents dealt with.
In Thanet, 17 arrests were made with 11 people charged with public order offences or being drunk and disorderly.
Supt Paul Brandon, from south east Kent police, said: "This sends a clear message to people that it is not acceptable to get drunk, pick fights and ruin the enjoyment for other people, and that if you do the police will intervene and you will be dealt with."
