Michael Fuller became Kent's chief constable at the start of January |
An operation in Kent to crack down on burglaries has resulted in 213 people being arrested in less than a week. Operation Castle was launched on 14 February and police said they made the arrests in six days, resulting in 84 burglary and related charges.
Thirty of those arrested were remanded in custody, meaning many burglars had been put of circulation, police said.
More than 80 search warrants have been carried out at addresses across Kent as part of the operation.
Thousands of pounds worth of stolen goods have been recovered and police said warrants carried out under the Misuse of Drugs Act has meant illegal drugs had been seized.
Chief Constable Michael Fuller said: "We have made an excellent start to Operation Castle and will continue to impact on burglary offences in Kent.
"This sends out a clear message - if you commit an offence of burglary in Kent, then you can expect to go to jail."
Operation Castle is a force-wide initiative running until the end of March with the aim of reducing domestic burglaries.
