Kent has a network of over 4,000 miles of footpaths |
A database of Kent's countryside paths is being compiled and will be made available to walkers, horse riders and ramblers via the internet. Kent County Council (KCC) has conducted a survey using digital equipment which records the condition of the paths.
The council said it set up the survey after requests from walkers and riders wanting quality information on the county's 4,000-plus miles of paths.
It aims to cover half this year and have the website online this summer.

The site will let people enter their postcode into the computer to find walks and rides available near their homes.
Well-known routes that pass through Kent include the North Downs Way which parallels the old route known as the Pilgrim's Way between Winchester and Canterbury.
Richard King, the county council's cabinet member for strategic planning, said: "Kent has a wealth of walkways in the Garden of England which are popular with residents and visitors alike.
"This will be a great help for anyone trying to find their way around this lovely county."
