A man has been charged with the murder of a man outside a pub in Kent on New Year's Eve.

Paul Melvin John Brown, 37, had been arrested in Spain last month before being extradited to the UK.

Marco Schiroli died outside the Vineyard pub in Maidstone Road, Rochester, following a disturbance.

Mr Schiroli, 29, of Copperfield Road, Rochester, had been stabbed.

Kent Police said Mr Brown, of no fixed address, had been charged at about 2000 BST on Wednesday and would appear in court on Thursday.

He was detained by armed detectives at an address in Fuengirola on the Costa Del Sol at the beginning of June.

Police were reported to have tracked him down after he was visited in Spain by a number of associates from Kent.

Mr Brown was due to appear before Chatham Magistrates Court on Thursday.
